As the new school year is approaching, YMCAs across the Greater Houston area are gearing up for Operation Backpack, an initiative to provide school supplies for children in our communities. Operation Backpack is an event held at the beginning of the school year to provide school supplies for children in neighboring communities so they can start school with the tools they need to be successful. For 2018, the Greater Houston area goal was to collect 120,000 backpacks.
This year, Pinnacle’s Community Outreach organization challenged the company to surpass last years donation of 55 and donate 100 supply-filled backpacks. Backpack and supply donations were accepted in each building on the PinnacleART campus, in addition to monetary donations used to purchase more supplies.
After all the monetary donations were used to buy additional backpacks and supplies, the official 2018 Pinnacle backpack contribution totaled to 102 backpacks.
